Speech:
The American Dream is the greatest thing this country has to offer. I was lucky enough to live it as those of you who have read my autobiography know that I am the second generation to live this dream. My father a gifted Architect was able to make a large amount of money by being an architect. Only in the US could an immigrant be given the opportunity to make a successful living. My father was lucky to be in a city where you can overcome adversity to make a great life. I would go into politics to serve those less fortunate than my father and I.
Everyone should be able to live the American dream. However, there are 15% of the nation who cannot. 15% of people live under the poverty line, to these people sending their children to college is a nightmare. We need to give more towards these people. Do everything in our problem to combat poverty. Poverty leads to homelessness, hunger, and crime. If we fight poverty we will fight homelessness, hunger, and crime. We have the ability to do something, and I will not stand idle.
My books is not about my success it is about giving back. So many of us our blessed, and we need to give to those less fortunate. My life has been about giving back. Wether through the navy or politics my goal in life has been to make America a better place. I will continue to do so.
